With Gradiator, 48DESIGN has released a new specialized tool: a visual tool that transforms individual color areas in SVG graphics into smoother gradients.
This problem is especially common in experimental illustrations, auto-generated SVGs, or highly simplified vector graphics: colors sit in isolated areas next to each other but don't appear as a natural gradient. That's exactly where Gradiator comes in. Instead of rebuilding the artwork from scratch, existing color areas are selected and a matching gradient is generated from them – with the goal of not distorting the original design.
The workflow is intentionally kept visual: areas can be selected directly, the gradient is calculated live and can be adjusted afterward. Axis, color stops, and transitions remain controllable. The result is not a random effect, but a clean gradient that stays true to the existing design.
Gradiator is particularly helpful for SVGs with visible color banding, posterization effects, or artificial-looking color transitions. Harsh patch areas become smoother transitions without losing the core graphic concept.
Gradiator was developed entirely in-house at 48DESIGN – born from the typical mix of design problem, technical curiosity, and the desire to simplify repetitive detail work.
